Lost her leg when she was six years old after a metal scaffolding fell on her leg after a race...Her left foot was shattered and she developed compartment syndrome soon afterwards, causing her to go septic with a fever of 105 degrees...After 21 surgeries, Barta was ready to get her first prosthetic and began walking...Since then, she has been very active in sports, playing varsity volleyball, basketball and track in high school...Additionally, she has been playing AAU basketball since she was 11 years old and loves playing in tournaments around the nation...When she is not training or doing homework, she loves water skiing and playing the guitar...Daughter of Laura and as a twin brother Blair...Two-time U.S. Paralympics Track & Field High School All-American...Earned 2019 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field High School Female Field Athlete of the Year honors.
