Personal: A multi-sport standout for the Houston High School Hilltoppers, Vance was injured during a football game on April 1, 2009. Fifteen days later, his leg was amputated above the knee. With help from a Jackson, Miss. orthotics and prosthetics outfit, Vance learend to run again....After crushing the competition at the 2010 Endeavor Games in Edmond, Okla., Vance qualified for the U.S. Paralympics Track and Field Resident Team and moved to Chula Vista, Calif....Trains under the tutelage of sprints coach Joaquim Cruz, the 1984 800-meter Olympic gold medalist from Brazil.
