Personal: Born with a clubfoot, David Blair was told by doctors that he would never be able to function normally as a child due to the severity of the deformity…After several surgeries, he did his rehabilitation at Shriners Hospital in Utah and went on to prove doctors wrong by excelling in many athletic endeavors as a child with an adeptness for throwing…He discovered the discus throw in track and field but had very little coaching, learning the technique through videos provided by his high school coach…He went on to win a high school state championship against able-bodied athletes and received an athletic scholarship to Weber State University in Ogden, Utah where he set several school records and earned two conference titles in hammer and weight throw…He currently works as a SQL programmer/Server DBA…In the spring of 2015, David discovered he was Paralympic-eligible and after 16 years away from the sport, picked up a discus and threw 54.25-meters at his first track and field meet…Since then, he has quickly risen in the sport again, finishing the season six months later with a silver medal at the 2015 world championships in Doha, Qatar....Son of Max and Sharon Blair…Has three sisters, Anna, Janay and Michelle, and two brothers, Daniel and Graydon…Married to Cinthia Blair and has four daughters, Alyssa, Aubriela, Bethany and Mayzie…Received his first formal coaching when he was one of seven high school athletes nationwide to attend a training camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in 1993…Won the Male Adaptive Athlete of the Year at the 2016 Governor's State of Sport Awards…Favorite book to read with his family is “The BFG” by Roald Dahl.
