Personal: From a young age, swimming gave Griswold freedom and a place to relate to his peers. Griswold, who has cerebral palsy, got his start in the pool when his parents took him to the Ocean County YMCA at six years old. He was on a competitive track by the time he was nine. In his home state of New Jersey, Griswold arranged a clinic at the age of 16 to educate the community about the sport of adaptive swimming and expose individuals with physical disabilities and their families to the athletic opportunities available to them. An array of coaches and athletes were present at the even including 2000 Paralympic gold medalist Lauren Reynolds Davidson, two-time Paralympian Joe Wise and 2012 Paralympic gold medalist Ian Silverman. He was the captain and MVP of his high school swim team in Freehold, N.J. and currently swims at Carson-Newman University....Son of Douglas and Linda Griswold…Has one sister, Molly… His hobbies include reading, camping, traveling and history.
