Fun Facts: Ian Silverman was born with mild cerebral palsy and has undergone muscle lengthening surgeries to his lower extremities, as well as serial casting and Botox injections...Fun Facts: however, this has not stopped Silverman from achieving both in and out of the pool. Now, Silverman is a freshman at the University of Southern California, where he competes against able-bodied Division I athletes. Silverman is studying business and film at U.S.C. His first Paralympic experience was at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. He dedicated his swim and gold medal to his best friend and teammate, Alec J. Cosgarea, who tragically passed on July 9, 2012.
