Personal: A 2013 accident put Halgren in a coma for a month and resulted in his left leg being amputated above the knee...Halgren is training to compete at the Paralympic Winter Games to honor the memory of his late twin brother Lucas 'Sven' Halgren, who died in a motorcycle crash near Mount Cook, New Zealand, in December 2016...Lucas had encouraged him to take up Para skiing following his accident and the pair had spent the 2016 winter season working together fitting chains and directing car park traffic at The Remarkables ski resort in Queenstown, New Zealand...Patrick's parent are Peter Halgren and Kathy Halgren. His siblings are Lucas Sven and Butch Halgren....His hobbies include roller blading and road trips. ...Patrick's sporting hero is Jimmy Brown. ...A fun fact about Patrick is that he's won every costume contest I’ve ever entered....His nickname is Powerhouse Pat....Patrick's favorite thing about alpine skiing is that you have to put in the time and learn the technique to be able to ski fast: "You can’t fake fast"....He believes that this is his destiny. That the universe has told him that he was meant for something greater so here he is.
