23 U.S. Athletes Earn Medals At IWWF World Masters Barefoot Championships

Twenty three U.S. athletes combined to earn 45 medals at the 2022 IWWF World Masters Barefoot Championships, Sept. 26-Oct. 1, in San Marcos, Texas. More than 75 barefoot water ski athletes from five countries competed in respective divisions for titles in wake slalom, tricks, jumping and overall during the six-day event. Divisions were in 10-year age increments: 35+ (Senior 1), 45+ (Senior 2), 55+ (Senior 3) and 65+ (Senior 4).

U.S. water ski athlete Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) won the women’s slalom title at the 2022 Malibu Open, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at Lymanland in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Some of the world’s top professional water ski athletes competed for titles in respective events.

AWSA Board Approves Increase To Towboat Use Reimbursement

The American Water Ski Association’s board of directors has approved an increase in Towboat Use Reimbursement from $25 hourly to $50 hourly, effective January 2023. The change will be reflected in the 2023-2024 AWSA Towboat Policy Manual when it is updated for the new year.

Four water ski athletes won titles in respective events at the 2022 MasterCraft Pro, presented by Action Water Sports, Sept. 23-24, at Action Water Sports of Central Florida in Polk City, Fla. Some of the world’s top men’s and women’s water ski athletes competed in slalom and jumping at the two-day cash-prize tournament.

Revised Qualifications & Procedures Posted For Pan Am Championships

The qualifications and procedures for the U.S. Elite, U21, U17 and U14 water ski teams that will compete in the 2022 Pan American Water Ski Championships are now available to view and download. The biennial tournament will be held Nov. 29-Dec. 3 in San Bernardo, Chile.

Shark Wake Park Hosting IWWF Pan Am Cable Championships

Shark Wake Park in West Palm Beach, Fla., will host the inaugural IWWF Pan American Cable Championships, Friday through Saturday. The event will be a qualifier for the 2022 IWWF World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships in November in Thailand.

2023 USA Adaptive Water Ski Team Selected

USA Adaptive Water Ski & Wake Sports, a sport discipline organization of USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, has announced the selection of the 2023 USA Adaptive Water Ski Team that will compete in the 15th IWWF Disabled Water Ski World Championships, Sept. 11-17, 2023, at Shortline Lake in Elk Grove, Calif. The selections were announced following the conclusion of the 26th Barbara Bolding/Jim Grew Fund Adaptive Water Ski National Championships, Sept. 15-17, at Twin Oaks Lakes in Paducah, Ky.

U.S. Team Wins Gold At IWWF 35+ Worlds

The U.S. 35+ Water Ski World Championships Team won the gold medal and 27 U.S. water ski athletes combined to earn 43 individual medals, including 18 gold medals, in respective events at the 6th IWWF 35+ Water Ski World Championships, Sept. 13-19, at Ski Nautique Club de Bordeaux in Baurech Lake, France. The United States tallied 14,285.52 points in winning the gold medal. Great Britain earned the silver (10,863.08 points) and France the bronze (10,487.12 points). Athletes and teams from 28 countries competed in the six-day event as the world team title and world individual titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall were at stake.
