Two Disabled Veteran Water Ski Athletes Awarded Equipment Grant

USA Water Ski & Wake Sports is pleased to announce the first two recipients of its 2022 Disabled Veteran Athlete Equipment Grant. Disabled veteran water ski athletes Marco Bungert (Huntersville, N.C.) and Charles Wesson (Charlotte, N.C.) are each being awarded $9,500 worth of 3-event competition adaptive water-ski equipment to further enable them to participate at a competitive level in water ski events.

Qualifications & Procedures Posted For 2022 U17 Water Ski World Championships

The U.S. Team Selection and Independent Skier Qualifications & Procedures for the 2022 IWWF U17 World Water Ski Championships are now available. A six‐member team will be selected to compete at the 2022 IWWF U17 World Water Ski Championships. The tournament will be held Jan. 5-8, 2023, in San Bernardo, Chile. The team will be announced on or about Nov. 8, 2022.

Tournament Schedule Set For Goode Water Ski National Championships

The tournament schedule has been released for the 80th Goode Water Ski National Championships, to be held Aug. 7-13, at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. Mystic Lakes, which includes two world-record capability water ski lakes, previously hosted the Nationals in 2018. It also will host the 2022 Midwest Regional Water Ski Championships, July 29-31. The nation’s top water ski athletes will compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions during the seven-day Nationals.

Smith Wins Slalom Title at 61st Nautique Moomba Masters

U.S. water ski athlete Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.) won the men’s slalom title at the 61st Nautique Moomba Masters International Invitational, presented by GM Marine, March 11-14, on the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia. Some of the world’s top water ski athletes competed for titles in slalom, tricks and jumping.

46th Think Tank Set For This Weekend

The Wisconsin Water Ski Federation presents the 46th annual Think Tank Water Ski Convention & Expo, March 4-6, at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Think Tank is the premier water ski education experience offering training for nearly every water ski discipline as well as seminars on a variety of other topics including team management, show production, club operations, fundraising, and insurance.

FISU World University Water Ski & Wakeboard Championships In Belarus Cancelled

Following a meeting of the FISU Executive Committee last Friday, FISU has withdrawn the FISU World University Water Ski & Wakeboard Championships from Minsk, Belarus, that was scheduled to be held Aug 24-27, 2022. FISU has also withdrawn the FISU University World Cup Powerlifting from Moscow and the FISU University World Cup Rugby Sevens from Kazan.
