Return To Play Guidelines Announced

As our communities begin to re-open and get back to some sense of normalcy, USA Water Ski & Wake Sports has been working diligently with the USOPC and our sport discipline organizations to create “return to play” guidelines for our sport. First and foremost, the health and safety of our members is our top priority. These return to play guidelines are meant to provide athletes, coaches and event organizers with best practices and recommendations regarding return to safe water ski activity.

2020 Junior Worlds Postponed

In light of current events affecting most countries, to ensure the safety of organizers and athletes and to show social responsibility, the IWWF and USA Water Ski & Wake Sports have agreed to reschedule the 2020 IWWF Junior Water Ski World Championships to a date to be determined in 2021.

AWSA Allows Practice Scores For Rankings

Sanctioned events may be put on hold for the near future, but that doesn’t mean skiers still can’t compete. AWSA is pleased to announce that members can now enter practice scores to be judged online by a panel of officials where final scores will be submitted online to the AWSA national rankings list. Please note that USA Water Ski & Wake Sports and the American Water Ski Association strongly encourage all members to practice social distancing and any other CDC or state guidelines that are currently in place, and remember that USA Water Ski & Wake Sports is not sanctioning (providing insurance coverage) any water ski activity (tournaments, clinics, practices or exhibitions) through May 17.

2020 Barefoot Nationals Schedule Available

The schedule of events for the 43rd Barefoot Water Ski National Championships is now available. The Nationals is scheduled for Aug. 20-23 on Action Water Sports’ Lake Grew in Polk City, Fla.

GOODE Skis Renews Sponsorship

USA Water Ski & Wake Sports is pleased to announce that GOODE Skis will continue as a National Sponsor of the national governing body of organized water skiing and wakeboarding. In addition to its designation as National Sponsor of USA Water Ski & Wake Sports for 2020 and 2021, GOODE Skis has agreed to be the title sponsor of the U.S. Water Ski National Championships for the next 10 years (2020-2029).

11th World Games Moved To July 2022

The International World Games Association (IWGA) and Birmingham Organizing Committee (BOC) have agreed to postpone the 11th edition of The World Games until July 7-17, 2022. The Games had originally been planned to take place from July 15-25, 2021.

U.S. Athletes Win Moomba Masters Titles

U.S. water ski athletes Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.), Erika Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Nate Smith (Winter Garden, Fla.) won titles in respective events at the 60th Nautique Moomba Masters International Invitational, March 6-9, on the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia.

In Memoriam - Gordon Hall, 1957-2020

USA Water Ski & Wake Sports is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of longtime member Gordon Hall. Gordon, 62, of Martindale, Texas, was a multi-time national champion tricks skier, renowned water ski site developer, tournament organizer, and board member for the American Water Ski Association, National Collegiate Water Ski Association and USA Water Ski & Wake Sports.

2020 National Junior Water Ski Team Selected

Top junior water ski athletes from across the nation have been selected to the American Water Ski Association’s National Junior Water Ski Team for 2020. The 28 selections for the Boys/Girls 2 (13 and under) and Boys/Girls 3 (17 and under) divisions were based on performances during the 2019 tournament season.
