In Memoriam: Lisa St. John, 1954-2020

Lisa St. John, the 1973 women’s world overall champion and a 1995 inductee into the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation’s Water Ski Hall of Fame, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at her home in Orlando, Fla. She was 66 years old.

Wilson Trophy Company Renews Partnership Through 2022

U.S. Athletes Win Titles At 2020 MasterCraft Pro

U.S. water ski athletes Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Nate Smith (Windermere, Fla.) won titles in respective events at the 2020 MasterCraft Pro water ski tournament, Oct. 23-24, at Action Water Sports’ Lake Grew in Polk City, Fla. The world-record capability cash-prize event featured some of the world’s top men’s and women’s professional slalom skiers and men’s professional jumpers.

Jaquess Wins Swiss Pro Slalom For Sixth Consecutive Time

U.S. water ski athlete Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) won the Swiss Pro Slalom for the sixth consecutive year on Sunday at the Swiss Waterski Resort in Clermont, Fla. Some of the world’s top men’s and women’s professional slalom skiers competed in the cash-prize tournament.

Schedule Set For 2021 GOODE Water Ski National Championships

The tournament schedule for the 79th GOODE Water Ski National Championships has been released. The world’s largest three-event water ski tournament will be held Aug. 8-14, 2021 at Waters Edge Estates in Wilmington, Ill. Waters Edge previously hosted the Nationals in 2010 and 2011.

In Memoriam: Ralph Armstrong, 1938-2020

Ralph Armstrong, a longtime member of the American Water Ski Association and USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, and one of the sport’s most decorated tournament drivers, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, with his family by his side in Destin, Fla. He was 82.

IWWF Announces Changes To Cable Wakeboard Age Divisions

The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s Cable Wakeboard Council would like to announce the following changes to the Age Categories from 1st January 2021. U19 Juniors – will become U18 Juniors; U15 Boys/Girls – will become U14 Boys/Girls. After many discussions regarding the age categories across our disciplines, the council conducted a medical report on the differences in physical ability within the age categories, the findings showed what the council already suspected, in that the age differential from the start of the category to the end of the category was too great and gave the older competitors an advantage.

This optional program provides USA Water Ski & Wake Sports affiliated clubs with access to Directors & Officers Liability and Employment Practice Liability insurance to protect against claims arising out of the mismanagement of club operations. All USA Water Ski & Wake Sports clubs should consider enrolling in this vital program.
