81st Goode National Championships Set For Aug. 1-5, 2023

The 81st annual Goode Water Ski National Championships will be held Aug. 1-5, 2023, at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla. Hosted by the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches, more than 600 water ski athletes from across the United States are expected to compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions during the five-day tournament.

Six Athletes Win Titles At America's Cup Invitational

Six U.S. athletes won titles in respective events Thursday night in the 2022 America’s Cup Invitational at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. The tournament was held in conjunction with the 80th Goode Water Ski National Championships and featured more than $30,000 in prize money. Athletes winning titles were: Kevin Jack (Winter Haven, Fla.), men’s tricks; Anna Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.), women’s tricks; Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.), men’s slalom; Ali Garcia (Winter Garden, Fla.), women’s slalom; Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.), men’s jumping; and Lauren Morgan (St. Louis, Mo.), women’s jumping. The event was open to U.S. athletes only. The Open division at the 80th Goode Water Ski National Championships served as the qualification round for the America's Cup Invitational.View Scorebook.

Schedule Change Announced For Day 4 (Wednesday)

Chief Judge Kate Knafla has announced a schedule change in the running order for Wednesday (Day 4). For Lake 1 Slalom, Girls 2 will now ski before Girls 5. The revised running order is now B4, G4, B5, G2, G5, G3.

National Junior Awards Party Information Announced

The National Junior Awards Party will be held on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on site at the Mystic Lakes Pavilion. Awards will conclude prior to the beginning of the America's Cup Invitational. Tickets $15/person (skiers and non-skiers). Taco Bar and inflatables for the kids. America's Cup Invitational Night Event Set For Aug. 11

The Mystic Lakes Ski Club has announced the 2022 America's Cup Invitational will be held under the lights in conjunction with the 80th Goode Water Ski National Championships on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. More than $30,000 in prize money will be awarded. The event is open to U.S. athletes only. The Open division at the 80th Goode Water Ski National championships will be the qualification round for the America's Cup Invitational. Level 9 skiers who want to compete in their age division will not be competing in the Open division for placement, but just for score to qualify for the America's Cup Invitational. Towboat Draw Announced For 80th Goode Nationals

The Towboat Draw for the 80th Goode Water Ski National Championships is now available to view and download. Towboat manufacturers Malibu, MasterCraft and Nautique will pull the tournament skiers. Webcast Fund-Raising Information

The American Water Ski Association (AWSA) in partnership with USA Water Ski & Wake Sports and The Waterski Broadcasting Company (TWBC), is raising funds from skiers, families, sponsors and water ski enthusiasts to produce a live webcast of the 80th Goode Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 7-13, in Maize, Kansas. The goal is to live webcast the entire 7-day event, including all age divisions. USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, AWSA and each of the AWSA Regions have already contributed a combined $20,000 to support the effort, but an additional $10,000 is needed through this crowd-sourced fund-raising initiative to make this happen. Note: USA Water Ski & Wake Sports and AWSA fully endorse this fundraiser by TWBC.

Attention Competitors: Slalom Rope Information

Thanks to Masterline’s sponsorship it has been decided to offer both the standard “Pro” slalom line and the “Optimized 2.0” slalom line at the 2022 Goode Water Ski National Championships. The “Pro” line (black rope) will be the default rope used for all slalom events with the Optimized rope available upon request. Youth ropes will be available for the Junior events as is applicable for the Division and Class of event.

The Mystic Lakes Ski Club in Maize, Kan., will host the 80th Goode Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 7-13, 2022. Mystic Lakes, which includes two world-record capability water ski lakes, previously hosted the Nationals in 2018. It also will host the 2022 Midwest Regional Water Ski Championships, July 29-31. The nation’s top water ski athletes will compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions during the seven-day Nationals. Advancement to the world’s largest three-event water ski tournament is primarily earned through placement on the national rankings list. Athletes also can qualify by placing in the top-five in the previous year’s event or at respective 2022 regional championships. The first national championships was held in 1939 at Jones Beach in Long Island, N.Y. Except for three years during World War II (1942-1944), the Nationals has been held every year since 1939. Goode Skis, a National level sponsor of USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, has been the title sponsor since 2000.
