COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (updated April 18, 2018) – USA Volleyball is proud to announce its 24-player U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team-Detroit (CNT-Detroit) roster comprised of current collegiate players who will train and compete in Detroit from June 22 to July 1.
The CNT-Detroit squad, which is part of USA Volleyball’s High Performance pipeline and is considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women’s National Team, will train from June 22-26 at the University of Michigan. Afterward, the athletes will be assigned to one of two 12-member teams that will play three exhibition matches against each other at the Cobo Center from June 27, June 28 and June 30. The matches are being held in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships under the same roof.

Middles selected to the elite CNT-Detroit program are Candice Denny (University of Arizona, Saratoga, California), Brooke Morgan (University of Kentucky, Dike, Iowa), Elizabeth Pamphile (University of Arkansas, Orlando, Florida), Addie Picha (University of San Diego, Puyallup, Washington), Lauren Sanders (University of Washington, Snohomish, Washington) and Amber Witherspoon (Syracuse University, Chicago, Illinois).
The outside hitters named to the CNT-Detroit roster are Brooke Bailey (Clemson University, Canton, Ohio), Kendra Dahlke (University of Arizona, Bonsall, California), Andrea Hale (Weber State University, Elk Ridge, Utah), Kaylin Korte (Clemson University, Morris, Illinois), Meredith Norris (Michigan State University, Owosso, Michigan) and Yossiana Pressley (Baylor University, Cypress, Texas). Jasmyn Martin (University of Minnesota, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota) was originally selected, but pulled out after the announcement due to injury.
The four opposites selected to the CNT-Detroit roster are Danielle Barton (University of Utah, Sandy, Utah), Sarah Sanders (University of Oklahoma, Plano, Texas), Mia Sokolowski (University of Florida, Tucson, Arizona) and Jaila Tolbert (Virginia Tech, Minneapolis, Minnesota).
The CNT-Detroit setters are Ashley Brown (Washington State University, Prosper, Texas), Bailey Choy (University of Utah, Honolulu, Hawaii), Tess Reid (Loyola Marymount University, Lenexa, Kansas) and Haley Templeton (University of Miami, Alpharetta, Georgia).
The liberos for the CNT-Detroit program are Gabby Curry (University of Kentucky, Buford, Georgia), Mary Dodge (University of Wisconsin, East Troy, Wisconsin), Reilly Killeen (Kansas State University, Honolulu, Hawaii) and Morgan O’Brien (University of Illinois, Libertyville, Illinois).
“We’re excited about the 2018 U.S. Collegiate National Team class and look forward to seeing how this crop of athletes perform during training as well as the exhibition matches,” USA Volleyball Senior Director Tom Pingel said. “Each year there are athletes who surprise the staff with their performance. I’m sure 2018 will be no different.”
The USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline is represented on the CNT-Europe roster with two players having international experience. Curry was a libero on the 2017 U.S. Women’s Junior National Team that played in the FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship. Lauren Sanders competed in the 2016 NORCECA Women’s U20 Continental Championship as part of the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team.
Athletes were selected through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts held March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. USA Volleyball released in March rosters for the CNT-China and CNT-Europe rosters.
- Amber Witherspoon is a repeat selection to the CNT program as she competed in the 2017 CNT-Minneapolis program. She was a scholarship basketball player her freshman year at Syracuse before switching to volleyball.
- Several club teams are represented by two players on the CNT-Detroit roster. Ashley Brown and Sarah Sanders played for Texas Advantage. Bailey Choy and Reilly Killeen competed for Imi Ike as both hail from Honolulu. Gabby Curry and Haley Templeton played for A5.
- The CNT-Detroit roster has two players with the last name of Sanders (Lauren and Sarah), and two players with the first name of Brooke (Bailey and Morgan)
