Job Description
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a regular full-time position reporting to the CEO. The role is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of the USAV’s marketing and sponsorship initiatives. The CMO oversees the Communications and Creative Services department and is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Define and implement measurable marketing strategies to support USAV’s overall strategies and objectives.
  • Develop increased revenue for USAV through sponsorship, licensing and marketing of events, properties and programs.
  • Define USAV’s unique brand identity and develop messaging that will resonate with stakeholders and be consistently applied throughout USAV programs and properties.
  • Maximize brand touchpoints: experiences, connections and incentives
  • Build and utilize a strong distribution channel network for marketing initiatives.
  • Plan and organize marketing functions and operations (product development, branding, communications etc.), and ensure projection of the company’s unique voice.
  • Design and enhance marketing campaigns for each commercially viable aspect of the organization.
  • Apply marketing techniques over digital and non-digital channels to raise the awareness and profile of National Team athletes.
  • Create a solid network of marketing and communications strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee the Communications and Creative Services department, strategic planning and budgets and develop/implement a marketing plan based on a strong ROI.
  • Serve as point person for USAV public relations issues.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing required (MBA or advanced marketing degree preferred).
  • Minimum ten years of progressive marketing experience preferred.
  • Minimum five years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong leadership and project development skills.
  • Familiarly with strategic marketing campaigns.
  • Skill in leveraging market research and data analytics to improve results and increase ROI
  • Demonstrated creative and analytical capabilities.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing techniques including, but not limited to, SEO, SEM, email, social, affiliate and retargeting.
  • Must successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
  • Must successfully complete SafeSport Certification within two weeks of hire date.

Job Description
The Senior Director, National Teams is a regular full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the CEO. The position is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the National Team Programs (Beach, Indoor and Sitting disciplines), with the ultimate goal of achieving Olympic and Paralympic success. The role provides leadership, continuity, oversight and related performance services to the unified national team program. The position oversees the National Team Programs & Coaches, Sport Performance Services (i.e. sports science, sports medicine, strength & conditioning, nutrition, etc.), High Performance, California Operations, and Coaching Education Departments. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays, along with travel (including some international travel). The position will be located in one of USA Volleyball’s four office locations

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Provide vision and leadership for USAV’s national team coaches, sport performance staff, high performance staff and elite athletes, with the focus on performance success at the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, World Championships and other key international events.
  • Provide consistent leadership that ensures the perpetuation and continued growth of a National Team culture that has been historically characterized by the highest levels of personal accountability; medal-winning performance results; team spirit; and national pride.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of quadrennial High Performance Plans for each discipline.
  • Develop the selection procedures for the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Pan American Games, Parapan American Games, Youth Olympic Games and other USOC protected competitions.
  • Serve as the point of contact to the USOC Sport Performance Division.
  • Collaborate in the development of and be ultimately responsible for the National Team, High Performance, California Operations and Coaching Education budgets.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the senior staff team to creatively develop and achieve USAV’s strategic plan and key objectives.
  • Work in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and others to effectively represent the vision, opportunities, challenges and needs of the National Team programs with domestic and international organizations.
  • Develop and implement programs to help identify and mentor future national team coaches.
  • Provide general oversight and philosophical direction to the High Performance, National Junior & Youth Team programs with the goal of maintaining a healthy and robust athlete and coaches pipeline to the National Team and fostering the culture that characterizes the National Team program.
  • Assume a strong leadership and communication role with the USAV and USOC Athletes’ Advisory Committee. Ensure that athlete concerns and opportunities are recognized and advocate for those concerns, as appropriate.
  • Assume a strong and vocal leadership role in support of USAV’s anti-doping, SafeSport and education programs
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Foundation and Communication Departments to develop individual team marketing/PR plans and promote specific events through all available avenues.
  • Perform duties, serve on task groups and take on special assignments as requested by the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in sport management, related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Leadership experience with a national level sports organization preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of ten years progressive coaching experience at a high level and/or administrating a national team program.
  • Thorough understanding of the athlete and coaches development pipeline.
  • Strong strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with development and implementation of High Performance Plans focused on high level success.
  • Experience working in international sport.
  • Proven relationship-building skills.
  • Exemplary analytical, strategic thinking and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with elite-level athletes and coaches.
  • Proven financial management experience.
  • Proven staff management experience.
  • Familiarity with the sport of volleyball is highly desired.
  • Ability to travel and work effectively while away from the office.
  • Must successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
  • Must successfully complete SafeSport Certification within two weeks of hire date.

Internship, High Performance

Job Description 
This position centers on the planning, logistics and implementation of key 2018 High Performance programs, including 2018 USA HP athlete tryouts and USA Women’s National Team Tryout. The incumbent will gain a strong understanding of the preparation necessary for a successful, multi-event sport season. The position will report directly to the Director, USAV High Performance Indoor Programs. The position is located in the Colorado Springs office and will run approximately from mid-June through mid-August of 2018. 

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to: 

  • Complete one major planning project addressing future growth and directions in High Performance and present project results at end of internship
  • Assist with preparation and logistics for Boys’ and Girls’ HP Summer Training Programs
  • Assist with preparation, logistics and implementation for A2 Invitational.
  • Assist with preparation, logistics and implementation for High Performance Championships
  • Answer Indoor HP emails, with a high focus on customer service
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working toward, or recent graduate with a four-year college degree in sports administration or related field.
  • Excellent work ethic.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Must pass a USAV background screening prior to hire.
  • Must successfully complete SafeSport Certification within two weeks of hire date.

Starting Salary
$ 10.20/hour
