USA Triathlon Coach Certification Program

USA Triathlon Certified Coaches are a vital part of our success in the mission to grow, inspire and support the triathlon community. USA Triathlon is dedicated to providing you unparalleled resources to ensure you are qualified, confident and successful throughout your coaching career. Effective Jan. 1, 2021, we have made some updates to our Coaching Certification program. The graphic below outlines our coaching development pathway. New USA Triathlon Level I Coach Certification

To be obtain the USA Triathlon Level I Coach Certification, candidates must complete and/or submit the following:

  • Introduction to Multisport, Theory of Coaching, Foundations of Multisport Coaching

  • Completion of the Level I Online Coaching Certification Course ($599)
     After completing the Core Coaching Courses, you will automatically be emailed an invitation to purchase/begin the Level I Online Coaching Certification Course

  • Green Light (Clear) NCSI Background Check

  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification

  • SafeSport Certification (annual training is complimentary)

  • Current USA Triathlon Annual Membership

  • Signed USOPC Ethics Code Agreement

 
Within two years of becoming a USA Triathlon Level I Certified Coach, new coaches who certified after 1/1/21 are required to complete a LI Area of Focus. An Area of Focus allows the coach to specialize in one of four areas: Short Course, Long Course, Youth and Junior and Para Athletes. Completion of an Area of Focus is a requirement for recertification.

Triathlon Learning
Triathlon Learning, powered by USA Triathlon, provides education and resource opportunities for athletes, coaches, parents, and officials at all levels of triathlon. All education for current or aspiring coaches can be found by visiting Triathlon Learning. Please note, all education purchases on Triathlon Learning are final.
