USA Triathlon has partnered with Insurance Offices of America (IOA) to offer comprehensive insurance options for race directors through the USA Triathlon Marketplace. For specific policy questions you can email or call Jim Gauss at 407-998-4274 or John Burkart at 949-466-5407.
USAT provides comprehensive insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The coverage provides liability coverage to protect the race director, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants. The participant accident medical coverage protects each participant for the day of the event.
Participant Accident Medical Coverage
When athletes purchase a USAT Annual Membership or One-Day License, a portion of those fees cover the cost to provide them with excess medical insurance. This coverage only extends to their participation in an USA Triathlon sanctioned event and is only available after the injured party has filed with any primary insurance policies.
Event Liability
USA Triathlon provides comprehensive liability insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The USA Triathlon policy automatically covers USA Triathlon race directors, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants while participating in sanctioned events.

Event Director's Program
The Event Directors Insurance Program has been designed to provide Event Directors with insurance coverage for their day-to-day business operations.
Business Owner's Policy
USA Triathlon is happy to announce the availability of a business owner's insurance policy that can be purchased by sanctioned event directors. This coverage protects your business from claims arising from alleged bodily injury, personal injury or property damage liability and is meant to supplement the sanctioned event insurance. Coverage cost is based on the amount of revenue and the number of events produced by the company.
