Am I a Designated Adult?

  • Designated Adults are adult club members who have “regular contact” with or authority over club members under 18 years of age. This means that an adult club member who has more than insignificant, observable contact with minor athletes is a Designated Adult.

What are the responsibilities of a SafeSport Contact?

  • The SafeSport Contact must be familiar with USAT’s and the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s (“Center”) policies and procedures. SafeSport Contact must be available to club members for questions about SafeSport and knowledgeable about how to report a SafeSport complaint to USAT and the Center.

How Do I Complete the SafeSport Training?

 

  1. Create an account on the SafeSport website by clicking on the box in the center of the homepage where it says “CLICK HERE Register or Sign In”

  2. Click “Register” and follow the instructions.

  3. Enter USA Triathlon's access code when prompted. You can find this code by logging on to your USAT member profile, click on “Exclusive Partner Discounts” and scroll down until you see the code from the US Center for SafeSport.

  4. Complete registration and sign in. Once a new account is created, check your email for an email from no-reply@safesport.org to confirm your account.

  5. Complete the “SafeSport Trained” webinar available to you. This should take about 90 minutes to complete.

  6. Please email completed certificates with your name, club affiliation, and position to safesportsupport@usatriathlon.org. 

 

If you experience issues with the training, log out of the website and close your browser, then re-open browser and log back in. If this does not work, please contact the SafeSport help desk at help.desk@safesport.org

 

Certified Clubs SafeSport Information

How can you ensure you and your club are SafeSport Compliant?

  1. Club Admin to complete SafeSport requirements by January 1 OR 30 days after club registers if after January 1
  2. Club to designate a SafeSport Representative (this designee can also be the Club Admin). This person will be the main contact for SafeSport-related information from USAT and will serve as their club's informed person on all SafeSport reporting procedures.
  3. Upload your complete club roster to your club account on teamusa.org/usa-triathlon by within 30 days of club registration. Please include first and last name, date of birth, gender and email address for each member.
  4. Ensure all “Applicable Adults” on your club roster have completed SafeSport Training within 30 days of club registration, including: Club Admin, All Board of Directors, All Designated Adults, and All Club Coaches. Designated Adults are adult club members who have “regular contact” with or authority over club members under 18 years of age. This means that an adult club member who has more than insignificant, observable contact with minor athletes is a Designated Adult.
  5. Upload any roster updates to your club account on teamusa.org/usa-triathlon between August 1 and September 30, 2020. Please include first and last name, date of birth, gender and email address for each new member.

Once you and your club are 100 percent SafeSport Compliant by completing steps 1-5 as outlined above, USA Triathlon will provide your club with a $50 discount toward your 2021 Club membership, a complimentary 2021 Premier Club Benefits Package and five (5) complimentary USA Triathlon Annual Memberships.

How to be SafeSport Compliant – applicable for clubs with adult athletes ONLY

Club memberships and subsequent benefits are not offered until all SafeSport requirements are met. All necessary club administrators are required to meet necessary SafeSport compliance and club must be in good SafeSport standing with USA Triathlon
