Awards Ceremonies

The awards ceremony for Collegiate Club Nationals will take place at the Tempe Marketplace - District Stage from 8-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. This venue is outdoors, so please dress accordingly.

The High School Nationals awards ceremony will take place at the finish line on Friday, April 5 at 3:15 p.m.

Bike SupportVelo Mobile Bike Shop

The Velo Mobile Bike Shop is the Official Bike Support Provider for the 2019 USA Triathlon Collegiate Club and High School National Championships. Basic support will be provided at the pre-race briefings, at the race expo, in transition area, and on-course during racing. Support provided in transition and on-course will be limited to basic needs such as airing tires, changing flats, and gear and brake adjustments. More advanced services will be available for a nominal fee. The Velo Mobile Bike Shop is providing 15% off standard parts, labor, and accessories.

Bike Support Hours

Bike support services may be arranged by appointment by calling 602-759-8169. Bike support will also be available at the following locations and times:

  • Thursday, April 4
    • Draft-Legal and High School Pre-Race Briefings, 4-7 p.m., Sun Devil Fitness Complex outside of the Maroon Gym lobby
  • Friday, April 5
    • Packet Pickup and Expo, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tempe Beach Park
    • Transition area before each race and on-course during racing, 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 6
    • Transition area before each race and on-course during racing, 5:30 a.m. – 5: 45 p.m.

Course Nutrition

  Gatorade Endurance formula is the Official Sports Beverage of USA Triathlon and will once again be available on the course for all athletes.
   
 Sport In Science Science in Sport will provide on-course energy gels and energy bars at aid stations. Science in Sport’s isotonic gels provide fast, easily digestible energy! Both caffeinated and non-caffeinated will be available. Science in Sport will also offer their energy bars on course that pack 26g of carbohydrates into each bar!

Drug Testing

In accordance with U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) regulations, athletes may be drug tested at this event. Should drug testing occur, there are strict protocols that must be followed and will be coordinated by the on-site USADA representative as well as a USA Triathlon staff member. Saturday, April 6, 9:15 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.: BBQ pulled pork or chicken sandwich, cole slaw, beans, and a cookie

Pre-Race Briefings - Draft-Legal and High School

The Collegiate Draft-Legal and High School pre-race briefings will occur on Thursday, April 4 at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex - Maroon Gym, 400 E. Apache Blvd, Tempe, AZ 85287. Draft-Legal will begin at 5 p.m. and High School will begin at 5:45 p.m. Packet pickup will be in the lobby immediately outside of the gym. These meetings are mandatory for all participants.

Parking is available in either the Apache or Rural Rd Garages.

**No bikes permitted inside facility!**

Pre-Race Briefings - Olympic-Distance (Coaches and Captains Only) and Mixed Team Relay

The Collegiate Olympic-Distance (Non-Drafting) and Mixed Team Relay pre-race briefings will occur on Friday, April 5 at the Tempe Center for the Arts - Studio Theatre, 700 W. Rio Salado, Tempe, AZ 85281. The Olympic-distance briefing will occur at 1:30 p.m. and is mandatory for all coaches and captains. The mixed team relay briefing will occur at 2:15 and is mandatory for all participants.

Sportsmanship

USA Triathlon Sportsmanship Creed

As competitive athletes and members of the triathlon community, you know there is no better feeling than succeeding in your endeavors in sport. As a competitor at USA Triathlon events, you have a responsibility to demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmanship per the USA Triathlon Rulebook (Article III, Sections 3.3 and 3.4, Line b.), and as such, should always show respect for the sport, your fellow athletes, race staff, officials, volunteers and spectators. Each individual athlete shares this responsibility, which includes refraining from the use of improper language and conduct detrimental to the community at large. This rule will be strictly enforced and disrespectful language or conduct will not be tolerated.

Swim Safety

  • If the water temperature is 55 degrees or below on race morning, all athletes will be required to wear wetsuits.
  • Swim socks or neoprene booties are legal for the Collegiate Nationals races 
  • If you have a latex allergy, please let USAT staff know and you will be provided with a non-latex swim cap 

Timing Chips

Timing chips in 2019 must be returned after the event - they are NOT disposable. If you are participating in multiple races, you will receive a separate chip for each race. Your chip must be returned at the completion of your race at the finish line. If you forget to return your chip, you can return it by mail. Lost chips result in a $95 replacement fee. Mail lost chips to:

Chips for all races, except MTR, will be pre-stuffed in to individual race packets. For athletes doing multiple races, chips will be labeled with the respective bib number.  For the Mixed Team Relay, chips will be distributed upon check-in to transition area before the race.

For the Olympic-distance athlete swim practice on Friday, April 5, you must wear your assigned timing chip to enter the water!

Wristband Colors

You must wear the wristband(s) you receive in your race packet during the entire duration of the event.
