Event Cancellation/Modification Policy

In the event of extreme weather, natural disaster, community disaster or other unforeseen emergencies, our action steps will be as follows:
  1. USA Triathlon, in concert with local officials, will make the final decision based on safety of the athletes, spectators, vendors, volunteers and others affiliated with the event.
  2. USAT may, based on the conditions of the course, shorten the distances or cancel the event altogether.
  3. Because costs of the event have already been paid out to cover various levels of production expenses,  there will be NO REFUNDS, transferred entry fees or future complimentary entry fees.

Youth Age Group Championship Seeding

For athletes racing in the 8-15 year old age groups, the first five athletes in each wave, in each gender, will be seeded based off of last year's results at Youth Nationals. Seeding will be based off of the top five returning finishing athletes. In the event that the top five finishers from 2017 Youth Nationals are all not in attendance, we will roll down until we meet the top five athletes designation.

For example, at 2017 Youth Nationals, athletes A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H made up the top 8 finishers in Age 10 males. For 2018 Youth Nationals, athletes A, B, D, G, and H have registered for the race while athletes C, E, & F have not (in the Age 11 male age group). In this case, athletes A, B, D, G, and H will be the first five athletes to start the race within their wave. All other athletes registered in the Age 11 male age group will not be seeded and will start in a random order. This process will take place after registration has closed for the event.

Note that the 13-15 age groups will be a mass start. Athletes will be called out to the pontoon in the following order: top 5 returning 15 year olds, top 5 returning 14 year olds, top 5 returning 13 year olds, remainder of the 15 year olds, remainder of the 14 year old, and remainder of the 13 year olds.

Age groups ages 7 through 12 will be a time trial start.

For those athletes that are in the top five of their age group, they will be receiving custom white caps to wear during the swim to recognize them as a top five finisher from the prior year.
