The Draft-Legal Sprint Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 7 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Grand Ballroom.

Sunday, April 8

USA Triathlon will host a townhall meeting on Sunday, April 8. The meeting, which serves as the organization’s annual duathlon membership meeting, will be held at the Embassy Suites Grand Ballroom from 5:30-6:15 p.m., immediately before the Non-Draft Awards Ceremony. The first 100 attendees will receive a ticket for a free drink. Note: Once the free drink tickets have been exhausted, a cash bar will also be available.

Bag Check

USA Triathlon will institute a bag check at Duathlon Nationals. Each participant will receive a clear plastic bag at packet pick-up to store their gear on race day. The clear plastic security bags are 18x24 inches, and athletes will be permitted to check the bags at the bag check tent near transition. Transition bags or DNC race bags (distributed at packet pick-up) will need to fit inside the clear plastic bags provided for bag check.

Athletes will receive a sticker matching their bib number in their race packet. This number must be adhered to the outside of the bag prior to checking in the bag.

No bags of any kind will be allowed in transition while the races are underway. However, athletes will be permitted to carry gear into transition on race morning between 5:30-7:30 a.m.

Bike Course Note

The Non-Draft Standard and Sprint races on Sunday travel on the Southern Connector Toll Road. This is an interstate highway. It will only be open to bicycle traffic during the races. It will not be open before the event for practice. It is illegal and dangerous to ride on this road outside of the times it is closed for the race. USA Triathlon supports "If You See Something, Say Something®," a national campaign led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), at its events. The campaign raises public awareness of the indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, as well as the importance of reporting suspicious activity to state and local law enforcement. Informed, alert communities play a critical role in keeping our nation safe. We can all help keep our communities safe by paying attention to our surroundings and reporting suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

Sportsmanship

USA Triathlon Sportsmanship Creed

As competitive athletes and members of the triathlon community, you know there is no better feeling than succeeding in your endeavors in sport. As a competitor at USA Triathlon events, you have a responsibility to demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmanship per the USA Triathlon Rulebook (Article III, Sections 3.3 and 3.4, Line b.), and as such, should always show respect for the sport, your fellow athletes, race staff, officials, volunteers and spectators. Each individual athlete shares this responsibility, which includes refraining from the use of improper language and conduct detrimental to the community at large. This rule will be strictly enforced and disrespectful language or conduct will not be tolerated.

For more information on USA Triathlon rules and sportsmanship, please reference the USAT Competitive Rules.

Timing Chips - Different Procedure in 2018

UPDATED: Unlike previous years, timing chips in 2018 must be returned after the event - they are NOT disposable. If you are participating in multiple races, you will utilize your same chip throughout each race. You will NOT be given a separate chip for each race. If you are doing two (2) races, you will receive a red-strapped chip; if you are doing three (3) races, you will receive a blue-strapped chip. Athletes doing just one (1) race will received a black-strapped chip. Your chip must be returned at the completion of your last (or only) race at the finish line. If you forget to return your chip, you can return it by mail. Lost chips result in a $95 replacement fee. Click here for additional timing chip directions and the return mailing address.

Chip Strap Color Guide:

  • Participating in 3 races: blue strap
