More than 850 athletes from all 50 states and Washington, D.C, competed at the 2018 USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships in Greenville, South Carolina, from April 7-8. Racing kicked off Saturday at Lakeside Park with the Draft-Legal Sprint Duathlon National Championships, in which Todd Buckingham (Big Rapids, Mich.) and Makena Gates (Canton, Ga.) were crowned overall national champions.
The action continued Sunday with the Non-Drafting Standard and Non-Drafting Sprint National Championships. Alex Arman (Boulder, Colo.) and Aimee Phillippi-Taylor (Glenville, Pa.) took top honors in the standard distance, while Taylor Huseman (Milford, Iowa) and Cassidy Hickey (Parker, Colo.) earned overall national titles in the non-drafting sprint.
