USAT Zone3 Youth/Junior Draft-Legal National Championships Qualification
The USAT Development Series provides a pathway for athletes to qualify for USAT Zone3 Youth and Junior Draft-Legal National Championships (West Chester, OH).
New in 2022: An additional division has been added to increase opportunity for developing Juniors (race ages 16-17) to compete. There will be 75 National Championship qualifying spots, per gender, available to Youth, Juniors 16-17, and Juniors 18-19. While most qualifying races will be raced with the Juniors competing together, National Championship qualification in all qualifying events applies separately to Juniors 16-17 and Juniors 18-19.
Example: A 17-year-old junior athlete finishes as the 18th overall athlete in a qualifying event (where the Top-14 athletes earn an invitation to the USAT Zone3 Junior Draft-Legal National Championships. That athlete may qualify for a National Championship invitation provided he/she finishes in the top-14 of junior athletes' race aged 16-17.
Junior athletes qualify to compete at the Draft-Legal National Championship by meeting one of the following criteria at one of the following events (only athletes representing USA are eligible):

Finish in the Top-5 at the 2022 Americas Triathlon Junior North Americas Championships Sarasota*

Finish in the Top-14 at ANY 2022 Junior Triathlon Development Series Event*
Youth athletes qualify to compete at the Draft-Legal National Championship by (only athletes representing USA are eligible):

Finish in the Top-15 at ANY 2022 Youth Triathlon Development Series Event*
*Excluding athletes already qualified and/or athletes representing other National Federations.
Note: Since the youth race at Sarasota Bradenton Triathlon was canceled, those National qualifying spots were redistributed across the other series events.

2022 AMERICAS TRIATHLON JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA
The 2022 Americas Triathlon Junior Championship Team Selection Criteria determines the athletes who will represent the United States at the 2022 Americas Triathlon Junior Championship in Montevideo, Uruguay, October 29-30, 2022. Results from this event determine Team USA's 2023 World Triathlon Junior Championship athlete quota.

World Triathlon Medical Questionnaire
Junior athletes (ages 16-19) who wish to compete in a World Triathlon International Event (e.g. CAMTRI or ETU Junior Cups, CAMTRI Junior Championships, World Triathlon World Championships, World Triathlon Continental Cups, etc.) are required to undergo a Pre-Participation Exam (PPE) by their personal health care provider. The details of this are outlined in Rule 2.4 and Appendix Q of the World Triathlon Competition Rules. The PPE includes completion a World Triathlon-provided Medical Questionnaire reviewed by the athlete's doctor, an examination, and a 12 lead resting electrocardiogram (ECG) with results reviewed by the athlete's doctor. Upon completion of the PPE, the athlete will certify to USAT satisfactory completion using the form linked above. The athlete does not send his/her medical documentation to USAT. Athletes completing the PPE for the first time will use the Year 1 form with ECG. The following year, when the ECG is not required, athletes will submit the Year 2 form updating the date of their most recent physical exam. Certifications should be sent to juniors@usatriathlon.org.
