Junior National Team

2018 Junior Pan American Championships

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

August 19- August 26

USA Karate is proud to announce that we will once again be sending our Junior National Team to the Junior PKF Championships held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this August.  The Junior National team consists of the best athletes, ages 12-20, who will represent the United States in this prestigious international event.

USA Karate will provide $25,000 in funding for the support of the Junior Athletes for this Championship. This funding will be used to offset the costs of registration, insurance, and travel costs for coaches, medical staff and team leads. The remaining costs will be distributed among the athletes in the administrative fee.

TRAVEL DATES - Sunday, August 19 – Sunday, August 26

All athletes must arrive in Rio de Janeiro and be at the Team Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, no later than 4pm on Sunday, August 19.  You may depart on Sunday, August 26.

The top two finishers in each Jr. elite division will be eligible to participate in Rio de Janeiro.  Please notify us of your intent to participate no later than Friday, July 20 by sending an email confirmation to usakarateteam@usankf.org. If we do not hear from you by that date, your spot will be offered to the next athlete in your pool.  This trip comes very close to the completion of the National Championships and Team Trials and deadlines will be very tight.

All athletes (aged 12-20) must travel with a Parent or Legal Guardian over the age of 25.

Prior to leaving for Rio de Janeiro, each athlete will need to complete the athlete travel survey and pay the $850 Administrative and Hotel Fee. This fee includes a double room for the athlete and their Parent or Legal Guardian. Both the survey and the fee are required for participation.  Complete the survey by going to the USA Karate Junior Page under “Athlete Resources” on the website and clicking on the Jr. PKF Survey link.

Surveys must be completed by Friday, July 27th. If your survey is not submitted by this date at 5pm MST, your spot will be offered to the next athlete in your team pool. Due to limited time for alternates to obtain Visas, this deadline will have no exceptions.

Please direct all questions to esottile@usankf.org.
