Foundations Course


What is a Foundations Course?
The Foundations Course is an entry level offering, delivered by USA Field Hockey coach educators, for individuals with little to no field hockey experience. It is an interactive course that will get participants moving and playing the sport and is suitable for groups of all sizes.

Foundations Course Mission: To introduce the basics of field hockey and provide the tools to teach, coach and play field hockey with enthusiasm and confidence in a safe, fun and engaging way.

  • Physical Educators
  • Parents
  • Volunteers
When do Foundations Courses take place? 

Foundations Courses are set up upon request. USA Field Hockey frequently receive requests from school administrators to host a Foundations Course as part of a physical education professional development day. Interested in hosting a course in your area?

Please note that Foundations Courses must be planned out at least six weeks in advance.

How much does a Foundations Course cost?

The Foundations Course is free! 
 
The course host is responsible for securing a facility and eager participants. A gym, turf or grass field are all acceptable facilities to host a foundations course. In addition, a projector and screen are needed for parts of the course. USA Field Hockey can provide equipment if none (or not enough) is available.

 


What is required to host a Foundations Course?

The course host is responsible for providing the following:

  • Facility (gym, turf or grass)
  • Projector and screen
  • Sticks*
  • Balls*
  • Pinnies*
  • Cones*

*USA Field Hockey can provide equipment if necessary
