Schleicher got her start at playing field hockey because her mom has been coaching the sport since she was born. She grew up playing competitive soccer but transitioned to field hockey in the 5th grade. She always enjoyed going to her mom's high school practices in the summer and hanging out with the girls on the team which kept her engaged with the sport.
