When did you start boxing and why: I was 8-years-old when my first coach found interest in me. He trained me for only two weeks, and then set me up for a fight with the internet sensation “Pretty Boy Bam Bam.” This was a fight that he got paid for me to lose. After that loss, I went to Soul City Gym, where I saw all the champions, and here I am today, a champion.
Amateur Record: 35-5
Career highlights to this point: Winning gold at the 2016 Elite, Youth and Junior Open, which was my first time competing; thus making the 2017 USA Boxing Junior National Team.
What do you think is your greatest asset in the ring: My jab.
If you weren’t boxing, what would you be doing? Running the streets.
Who has been your biggest inspiration and why: My head coach, Otha Jones. When I was running the streets, he was the only one who came to save me.
What motivates you the most: Being successful in the ring, so I can eventually be able to reach back and help my family.
What are five things that most people don’t know about you: 1. I’m a gymnast. 2. I run cross country. 3. I’m a wrestler. 4. I’m a mentor to the younger kids in the gym. 5. I live with my coach, Otha Jones.
