Regional Elite Development (RED) Program

The mission of the RED Program is to develop recurve athletes, through the USA Archery athlete competencies and High-Performance Ethos, who are competitive nationally and internationally. RED athletes are expected to take a professional approach to their training and to work with the RED Program Coaches to set goals for proficient training.

RED Program Athlete Selection Process and Application

The program will consist of six teams throughout the United States, divided into the following regions: East, Southeast, South, North, West, Southwest. The RED teams will each consist of 12 select promising male and 12 female recurve archers ages 13-17 per region.

USA Archery will begin accepting applications for the RED Program following the final United States Archery Team (USAT) event of the calendar year. Priority will be given to individuals named to the Cadet USAT for the following year. Individuals who do not make Cadet USAT but are committed to a program of preparation to make a future USAT and desire to represent the United States on future international teams are encouraged to apply to the RED Program.

RED Program Coach Selection Procedures and Application

The RED Program Coaches will be responsible for providing coaching instruction to athletes in the RED Program within their region. All RED Program coaches will also be responsible for helping to plan, organize and administer the RED Program Camps. Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills are required. USA Archery will accept applications annually for a head coach and supporting coaches in each region. Interested applicants should review the position description for minimum criteria and application deadlines.

Compound Junior Dream Team

The Compound Junior Dream Team (JDT) consists of 35 of the most promising youth compound archers in the country. Participants in the program attend training camps and receive ongoing assistance from advanced level coaches throughout the year. This self-funded program was developed to help young compound archers to focus on technical and mental skill development, with the ultimate goal of developing future international success at the World Championships and World Cup level events.
