As the National Governing Body for the sport, US Speedskating is responsible for the conduct and administration of speed skating in the United States. In this capacity, US Speedskating determines the rules, implements the policies and procedures, conducts the national championships, disseminates safety and sports medicine information and selects athletes to represent the United States in international competition.

USS 2022 Board of Directors Election

This year, USS will elect two individuals to the Board of Directors. Two Independent
Directors will also be selected by the nominating and governance committee. Please
consider qualified candidates who you believe can add value and time to growing our great
sport and supporting our strategic plan. The BOD positions are in the following categories:

(1) USS General Membership Director (elected) 
(1) USS World Team/Olympian Director (elected)

The following outlines the timeline for the 2022 USS Board of Directors election process:
• Nomination period opens January 18, 2022
• Nomination period will close on February 18, 2022
• USS confirms nominee’s desire to run by February 19, 2022
• NGC and Ethics Committee reviews qualifications and possible conflicts
• Election period begins on March 7, 2022
• Election period ends on April 4, 2022
• Election results made public - April 19, 2022
• Board is seated at the 2022 US Speedskating Annual Meeting (May 2022
