Team River Runner Salt Lake City

Team River Runner (TRR), established in August 2004 by kayakers in the Washington, DC area, is a primarily volunteer non-profit organization run by a council of kayakers and overseen by a board of directors. TRR was initially established to help active duty military personnel wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan who were recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. With the success there obvious and the opportunity elsewhere apparent, TRR expanded to other Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) chapter sites in 2007. TRR envisions a national network which creates innovative paddling programs designed to assist with the recovery of those injured while serving our country. Through paddle sports, TRR volunteers and partners provide local communities unique opportunities for the active, safe and positive support of healing service members and their families. Team Utah Snowboarding

We are official partners of The National Ability Center, and have been supporting their adaptive Mono ski cross and snowboard cross programs over the last 3 years. We have had great success with these very hardworking and motivated athletes. Culminating in X Games Gold and Bronze medals, and podiums at every World Cup we have entered. The Athletes have various physical disabilities, and we tailor their training to suit.

Therapeutic Recreation and Independent Lifestyles (TRAILS) is a spinal cord injury (SCI) outreach program based at the University of Utah Health Care Rehabilitation Center. TRAILS is designed to prepare individuals with SCI to engage in active living through sports and exercise programs, recreational experiences and education. Providing year round programming, TRAILS offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to develop an active lifestyle. These programs and resources serve as an important extension to hospital based rehabilitation and facilitates lifelong activity and wellness.
