Austin Blades Sled Hockey

Promotes physical fitness, self-confidence, family values, and a positive team-building atmosphere that will encourage personal growth throughout all aspects of life. Our program has an adult competitive sled hockey team and we are in the process of starting up a full kids sled hockey team here in Austin. The future of sled hockey is with the kids.

For those who have been recently injured, such as Wounded Warriors, our program gives them the opportunity to get back on the ice for the first time or for the first time since their injury. Sled Hockey is an exciting alternative sport that uses the rules of hockey.

Adaptive Sports and Recreation, offer number of wellness, auatics, sports and recreation programs, designed specifically for people with disabilities. Adaptive Recreation manages and operates programs out of the Metropolian, Multi-Service Center, a 36,000 sq ft recreation center with an accessible fitness room, indoor pool, gymnasium, free-weight area, tennis courts, beep ballfield and 1/4 mile asphalt trail. Houston Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Houstonians with physical disability by ensuring greater access to recreation programs, wellness activities, and park facilities.

Lady Mavericks Wheelchair Basketball

The Lady Wheelchair Mavericks Basketball Team is a non-profit organization committed to improving the health and well-being of physically disabled women and girls. Participation in active and competitive wheelchair sports promotes both independence and self-confidence; it also encourages development of life-long skills which in turn supports the maintenance of a healthy life style. The program emphasizes skills training and leadership development, while also challenging each player to actively give back through volunteer work in the community and schools. The Lady Mavericks has been providing opportunities for women and girls since 1990.
