Clare Egan takes the Podium - Support USBA

What a difference a year can make!

Clare Egan set a fast pace from her first race to her last, culminating in a career defining podium finish in the final race of the season at the historic Holmenkollen Arena in Oslo, Norway in front of 15,000 fans. As only the third woman in US Biathlon history to win a World Cup medal, Clare lead the way for a season of historic progress. Sean Doherty captured his first ever top-10 World Cup finish in front of a home crowd at Soldier Hollow and Joanne Reid was 10th in the World Championship Mass Start competition, improving on her 15th place from earlier in the week.

Perhaps the most awe inspiring performance came at the World Championships where Susan Dunklee led off the women’s relay team tagging off in medal position. The team went on to lead the field on and off through three legs, remaining in medal position until the last shooting stage on the fourth leg.

We are also very excited to welcome Lowell Bailey as our new High Performance Director.  He joined his former teammate and Director of Athlete Development Tim Burke on May first. Together these two successful athletes will guide our program, bringing all their experience to the next generation.

Your support made it possible for Tim Burke to be the first American to wear the Yellow bib as the leader of the World Cup and to stand on the podium with a silver medal around his neck at the World Championships. Your support made it possible for Lowell bailey to become America's first World Champion.

Today we ask you to continue your support of the team so our top athletes, World Cup medalist Clare Egan, World Championships silver medalist Susan Dunklee, Junior World Champion Sean Doherty, Joanne Reid and all the rising stars on our team , can have the same outstanding support that helped Tim and Lowell succeed in this, Europe's most popular and competitive winter sport.

Please join me in renewing your commitment to the team today. Your gift, made before June 30, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by generous members of the US Biathlon Board of Directors and we have some small gifts from the team to celebrate the role you play as the team behind the team.
