A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Last week the torch was passed to a new generation of American biathletes as we celebrated the pioneering careers of Lowell Bailey and Tim Burke, America's two most successful biathletes. Over their two decade long careers they redefined the possible by winning medals at the World Cup and World Championships.

While we will miss their leadership and thrilling performances on the team we are so happy that they both will continue to work in the sport, passing on their knowledge to aspiring young biathletes: Tim as US Biathlon's first Athlete Development manager and Lowell as the Executive Director of the exciting new Crosscut Mountain Sports Center in Bozeman, Montana.

Your support made it possible for Tim Burke to be the first American to wear the Yellow bib as the leader of the World Cup and to stand on the podium with a silver medal around his neck at the World Championships. Your support made it possible for Lowell bailey to become America's first World Champion.

Today we ask you to continue your support of the team so our top athletes, World Championships silver medalist Susan Dunklee, Junior World Champion Sean Doherty, Clare Egan, Leif Nordgren and all the rising stars on our team , can have the same outstanding support that helped Tim and Lowell succeed in this, Europe's most popular and competitive winter sport.

We have hired two outstanding coaches to lead our team, veteran biathlon coach Armin Auchentaller from Antholz, the epicenter of biathlon in Italy, and three time Olympic Champion Michael Greis. The first training camps of the summer have concluded and the team is in great spirits, already looking forward to the World Championships in Ostersund, Sweden.

Please join me in renewing your commitment to the team today. Your gift, made before June 30, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by generous members of the US Biathlon Board of Directors and we have some small gifts from the team to celebrate the role you play as the team behind the team. Make a secure online gift here or mail a check to our office today.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Max Cobb
