MORE ON PAUL: Paul was born and raised in the northeast Wisconsin in the city of Appleton. Growing up, he played soccer, wrestled, and ran cross country. It wasn't until his sophomore year of high school he was introduced to the sport of cross country skiing -- immediately he was hooked. During his senior year of high school he decided he wanted to compete at the college level and in the fall of 2010 he left Appleton with a dream of competing at the collegiate level at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.

When he arrived at St. Scholastica, he was just a suburban kid looking to improve as a skier. Head coach at CSS, Chad Salmela, was a retired professional biathlete and quickly noticed Paul’s work ethic and talent to become an elite level biathlete. In the summer of 2014, Paul attended the talent ID camp with the United States Biathlon team at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY, and got invited back later that summer. Upon graduation in spring of 2015 he began his pursuit of biathlon full time and in the summer of 2016 was named to the USBA X-team.
