Personal:
Max’s athletic career was born out of a love for the outdoors. Raised in the Rocky Mountains of Ketchum, Idaho, he grew up skiing, hiking, cycling, backpacking, and fishing in the wilderness. As he grew older, Max became a competitive racer in both cross-country skiing and cycling. In 2009, he represented the United States internationally in both sports. Balancing skiing, cycling, and school provided a lot of joy and excitement growing up.
At the age of 18, Max signed his first professional cycling contract. He raced as a professional for four season (2010-2013). In addition, he was a six-year member of the United States National Cycling team (2008-2013), and a two-time national champion (2009).
Since retiring from cycling, Max has competed internationally in biathlon since 2014. He has represented United States Biathlon on the World Cup circuit, and at the World Championships. Additionally, Max works as a bio-medical researcher at the Thayer School of Engineering and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
