Kaisa became interested in biathlon after watching her first biathlon race and Kaisa Makarainen won, she has been her favorite athlete ever since.  Kaisa then joined the school Nordic ski team at the age of 12.  That winter she did a couple novice biathlon races and fell in love with the sport!
