Eli grew up in the remote community of Stehekin Washington, in the North Cascade mountains at the head of Lake Chelan. Son of Robert and Tammy Nielsen with two older brothers, Will and Dylan.  Eli  attended a one-room school house through grade 7, then moved two valleys to the northwest to attend Liberty Bell High School and  join the Methow Valley nordic and biathlon teams in 2014.
Eli loves hiking, biking, running,  up-down-side-front-back country and mountaineering skiing, climbing, sailing, knitting, sewing and building.
