Personal:
Was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in his left femur at the age of eight...Underwent countless surgeries, in addition to chemotherapy, but eventually opted to have his left leg amputated...Growing up as an avid baseball player in California, he was introduced to wheelchair basketball through a man at Costco, who stopped to talk to him about the sport...After trying it, he fell in love with the sport and has progressed to playing overseas in Spain and with the U.S. men’s national team...Son of Maria Elena and Jorge Sanchez...Has a sister, Alexi...Enjoys working out, exploring, traveling, doing motivational speeches, promoting the Paralympic movement, hiking and trying new food...Is a huge Golden State Warriors fan...Credits his biggest motivations to be his fiancé and his family.
