Personal:
Gilbert had a tumor on his spine when he was 6 years old. After jumping on a swing, his back began to hurt. A doctor said the impact had broken a blood vessel which cut off blood to his spinal cord. Gilbert began wheelchair basketball when he was 10 years old. He played throughout elementary, junior and high school. He was a five-time All-American at the University of Missouri....Son of John and Robin Gilbert…Has two sisters, Joy and Mary…Married to Whitney Gilbert…Enjoys being outdoors, playing video games, church and spending time with his family…Is a high school chemistry and physics teacher.
