Personal: Reichenbach grew up loving the sport of hockey and dreamed of playing since the age of four. He enlisted in the Navy in March 2008 and was promoted to Navy SEAL in May of 2010. While deployed in Afghanistan in July 2012 he stepped on an improvised explosive device. Within 12 hours of the explosion, he was without his left leg and had his right leg amputated just below the knee. He also sustained structural damage to his right arm and lost 40 percent hearing loss in one ear and 60 percent in the other. He was Introduced to sled hockey by U.S. National Sled Hockey Team teammate, Josh Misiewicz, while in Washington, D.C. Three months after the explosion, he was on the ice stopping shots from players of the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals.
