For Danielle Fong, shooting is a family activity. She learned to shoot from her dad and her sisters Abby (U.S. National Team) and Sandy (2008 U.S. Olympic Team).

Fong was born at 24 week gestation at 1 lb 8 oz. Three months and 11 operations later, she was discharged from the hospital.

Fong attended school at Hewitt High School in Manhattan, where she played trumpet in her school band. She was also captain of the school's Future Problem Solver's Team, which has won the state championship the last three years. In addition, she was a member of the school's swimming, volleyball and track teams.

Prior to starting her junior year at Hewitt, Fong traveled to Beijing, China, to participate in the 2008 Paralympic Games. She competed in two events, the women's air rifle standing SH1 and the women's sport rifle 3 x 20 SH1. She was also named to the 2010 Paralympic Shooting team.
