Doerr grew up sailing on Barnegat Bay in New Jersey, where all of his friends and family were avid sailors. He was forced to crew for his siblings at a young age. After a spinal cord injury in 1992, Doerr was able to reconnect to his past and has stated that sailing has improved his health....Son of Alphonsus and Esther Doerr…Married to Joann Doerr…Has four sisters, Carol, Debra, Mary and Susan, and one brother, Joe…His career as a physician in plastic and reconstructive surgery is another one of his passions...Coaches Bergen Catholic High School lacrosse…He is an assistant professor of orthopedics at Seton Hall University…Hobbies include lacrosse, skiing and coaching.
