Personal: Murphy first hopped on a bike as a means of commuting to a part-time job in LA, then began to enter national road cycling competitions. He sustained a brachial plexus injury at birth that resulted in permanent nerve damage from his neck through his arm. One day during recovery, he came across an article about a para-cyclist with a similar impairment. After adding track events to his repertoire, he was invited to a talent identification camp before making the U.S. Paralympics Cycling National Team in 2014. In 2016, he qualified for the U.S. Paralympic Team that was headed to Rio. ...Son of David and Quang Murphy…Married to Kelly Casebere…Appeared as a background musician in the 2012 Warner Brother’s Motion Picture Gangster Squad…Was a Disneyland musician from 2007-12…Hobbies include cooking, reading and performing music.
