At the USOPC, we know that Team USA athletes are more than heroes. They're people -- people who will eventually retire from the field of play and need to rely on real-world knowledge and skillsets to succeed. Today's athletes have more resources and opportunities than ever before to prepare as successfully for life off the field as they have for life on it.

See below for more, and make sure to Join Team USA Athlete Career & Education Hub on LinkedIn to stay up to date with networking and career advice from current and former Team USA athletes, to stay connected, and to receive job leads, referrals, and other valuable content to achieve your goals!

Next Step: Transition to Business

The transition from athletics into the civilian world is complex and demands new skills and knowledge. Next Step, at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, was designed specifically to help elite athletes and military veterans navigate that transition and prepare them for a career in business.

This general management certificate program combines a self-paced online learning phase with a live online learning phase to deliver an educational experience that is both flexible and immersive. Next Step helps participants refine what they know, discover what they don’t, and build the right business acumen to move their careers forward. It also allows them to build a robust network of ambitious peers who are also experiencing a career transition—bonds that last for years after the program concludes.

For further information about upcoming sessions, please visit the Next Step website or contact Margaux Lohry, Associate Director, Transition to Business Programs, at

Third-Party Opportunities

The USOPC is not responsible for curriculum and learning opportunities provided by other organizations. Availability of programs is subject to change. Please do your due diligence before engaging with any third-party opportunity.

If you would like to participate in a learning or skill development program with a fee, you may be eligible to receive a Team USA Tuition Grant to help offset program costs.

Athlete Marketing Essentials: NIL Certification is a free online course where leaders from Facebook and Instagram break down the vast array of tools and services available for athletes to grow their audience, distribute content and generate meaningful revenue.

Now that NCAA athletes can earn money off of their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), the influence – and earning potential – of college athletes will extend from the field to their social feeds. It’s also an opportunity for universities to raise the bar on how they support incoming recruits and student athletes, showing them to be successful on social and monetize their personal brands.
