In 2021, USA Wrestling created the USA Wrestling High School National Recruiting Showcase Series, which included a series of qualifying events for boys and girls, with the national event held side-by-side in Iowa.

This year, with the success and growth of this popular series, there have been some exciting changes that will make the series even better in 2022.

The 2022 High School National Recruiting Showcase for boys will be held at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, April 1-3. This will be held alongside the annual USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Championships, serving as the elite division for high school boys. For those who don’t qualify for the High School National Recruiting Showcase, there will be a High School Open division of the Folkstyle Nationals.

The 2022 High School National Recruiting Showcase for girls will be held at South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, Nev., April 28-29. It will be one of the nine different events held during the week of the Open Wrestling Championships, which includes multiple age-groups and styles. The High School National Recruiting Showcase for girls will be held alongside the U.S. Senior Nationals for women, with their championship finals side-by-side on the raised platform at the South Point.

Below are the specific details for those who wish to compete in the High School National Recruiting Showcase.

• All state champions and National Prep champions (any year) will automatically qualify for the High School National Recruiting Showcase for both boys and girls (They would not need to attend a qualifier). All previous state champions and National Prep champions must pre-register for the National Recruiting Showcase.

• State champions are defined as state association sanctioned state champions for boys in folkstye, and both state association sanctioned champions and recognized unofficial state champions for girls in folkstyle.

• NEW FOR 2022 – Any wrestler who has been a placewinner at the NHSCA High School Nationals (traditionally held in Virginia Beach) any year are eligible to compete at the High School National Recruiting Showcase.

• For high school boys, the National Recruiting Showcase competition will be in folkstyle (also known as scholastic wrestling), while high school girls will compete in freestyle at the National Recruiting Showcase, which is the style contested in college and at the international levels.

• The intent of the series is to provide unrestricted access for every college coach and recruiter to the single-highest concentration of high school talent, with every match available online through host broadcaster FloWrestling.

• High school wrestlers who have not won a state title or Prep National title can qualify to compete through six National Recruiting Showcase Qualifiers which are currently being finalized.

The USA Wrestling National Recruiting Showcase Qualifiers will be held in six strategic locations across the nation. Each National Recruiting Showcase Qualifier is open to all high school athletes from any state, giving wrestlers an option to compete in the most convenient location.

• The top five place winners in each weight class in the six qualifiers will earn a spot in the High School National Recruiting Showcase.

As with all events on the USA Wrestling national schedule, this series will be conducted following the requirements of the state and local health authorities, as well as using the safety provisions of the USA Wrestling Return to Events Guidelines. USA Wrestling and the local organizers will monitor data and local trends closely leading up to the event.
