Budapest Hungary – Three U.S. wrestlers competed in bronze medal matches tonight at the Cadet World Championships, and all three wrestlers are bringing home hardware. Angie Dill, Audrey Jimenez and Lillian Freitas closed out their tournaments on high notes, capping a perfect medal round for Team USA.

If you blinked, you missed Angie Dill’s 43 kg bronze medal match. Dill earned a 32 second pin over Kazakhstan’s Aida Alzhanova to claim her medal. Dill immediately headlocked Alzhanova to her back, and held her there for the fall. It was Dill’s second pin of the tournament.

At 49 kg, Audrey Jimenez dominated Romania’s Delia Voiculescu to the tune of 10-0 technical fall victory. Jimenez scored three separate takedowns to pull ahead, 6-0. On the third takedown, she locked up a leg lace, and picked up two turns to close out the first period technical fall. Jimenez went 4-1 across the tournament with all four wins coming by shut out technical fall.

2019 Cadet World Team member Lillian Freitas would not be denied a spot on the podium her second time around. Freitas bested Turkey’s Bukrenaz Sert, 4-0, at 73 kg to close out the night for Team USA. Freitas scored one takedown in each period and utilized her superior defensive position to prevent Sert from putting a point on the board.

With three bronze medals already secured, three wrestlers in tomorrow’s finals and one wrestler still in repechage, the U.S. has already outdone their 2019 performance which saw the team net three silver medals and two bronzes.

Repechage begins tomorrow at 5:30 a.m. EST, while the medal round begins at 12:00 p.m. EST, streaming live on FloWrestling.
