Budapest, Hungary – Both Americans women’s freestylers competing in today’s semifinals at the Cadet World Championships lost their matches, putting them in tomorrow’s bronze medal bouts.

Audrey Jimenez dropped her 49 kg semifinal to Switzerland’s Svenja Jungo. It was a back-and-forth affair with the two-time Cadet European medalist. Jungo took the early lead on the strength of two takedowns. Jimenez battled back, earning one takedown before the end of the first period and another takedown in the start of the second period, claiming a 4-4 lead on criteria. Jungo responded with a minute to go in the match, hitting a blast double for four points. Jimenez added one more takedown but could not overcome Jungo’s lead, falling 8-6. She wrestles for bronze tomorrow.

At 73 kg, Lillian Freitas was bested by Belarus’s Kseniya Patapovich, 3-1. Freitas took a 1-0 lead into the break on the strength of a passivity point. However, Patapovich scored her own passivity point and a takedown in the second period, which proved to be the difference in the match.

Two Americans who lost in this morning’s session were pulled back into repechage when the wrestler they were defeated by made the finals. Tomorrow, Angie Dill will take on Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Kulvakivska with the winner heading on to the 43 kg bronze medal match. Savannah Cosme will wrestle Mongolia’s Khaliun Byambasuren for the opportunity to wrestle for bronze at 57 kg.

Tomorrow’s repechage round begins at 5:30 a.m. EST, while the medal round kicks off at 12:00 p.m. EST, streaming live on FloWrestling.
