CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Mitch Moore and Jake Woodley both shined on Sunday afternoon in Iowa, but No. 18 Oklahoma fell to No. 13 Iowa State and No. 19 UNI in dual action by scores of 18-16 and 23-13, respectively.

The Sooners (2-3, 1-2 Big 12) found themselves locked in a heater with the Cyclones in the day's first dual, battling back from a 15-9 deficit after the 174-pound match. Head coach Lou Rosselli's team owned a 16-15 advantage as the two teams prepared for the dual's final match at heavyweight, but OU 285-pounder Josh Heindselman couldn't upset No. 7 Gannon Gremmel in overtime, giving the Cyclones the 18-16 win.

In the evening dual, Oklahoma took a 10-7 lead into the break but dropped four of the final five matches to lose the dual with No. 19 Northern Iowa 23-13.

"We wrestled well at certain weight classes and didn't perform at some others I thought," Rosselli said. "We have a few weight classes where guys need to be tougher. At a place like Oklahoma, the expectations are high and so you've got to be tough and willing to work to meet those expectations and I don't know that it happened today."

Mason Naifeh dropped both of his matches at 125 pounds, suffering a 6-4 defeat to ISU's Kysen Terukina and a 12-3 major to No. 6 Brody Teske.

At 133, No. 15 Tony Madrigal took home a 3-2 overtime decision over Iowa State's Zach Redding to open the day before losing 3-1 to UNI's Kyle Biscoglia.

In the highly-anticipated Big 12-title rematch at 141 pounds, No. 7 Dom Demas couldn't avoid a late takedown from No. 5 Ian Parker (ISU) and fell 5-3. The All-American responded forcefully later in the day by winning a 14-3 major decision over Drew Bennett of Northern Iowa. With the split on Sunday, Demas has won 16 of his last 18 bouts.

No. 13 Mitch Moore continued to impress at 149 pounds, pinning Cam Robinson in 1:01 to secure the second pin in four matches as Sooner. He then took care of business vs. Triston Lara of UNI by securing a 3-1 decision to improve to 5-0 on the season.

"Mitch is just a really tough kid," Rossell said after the duals. "He is tough to wrestle against, and he makes you earn everything. It's hard to wrestle at this level, and we need tough kids in our program, so we're happy to have him and help him develop."

Justin Thomas fell to No. 3 David Carr (ISU) in the opening dual by a score of 4-0, but the No. 11 Thomas bounced back with a convincing 7-3 win over UNI's Derek Holschlag to get the 75th win of his career.

Jake Stiles battled with Isaac Judge and Pat Schoenfelder but dropped both matches via decision.

Anthony Mantanona fell in both his matches on Sunday, dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 21 Julien Broderson and losing via fall to UNI's Lance Runyon.

Darrien Roberts got back into the win column vs. Tate Battani, defeating the Cyclone 5-2 to cut into the ISU lead. Later in the day, the sophomore suffered a setback vs. Parker Keckeisen via a 21-8 major decision.

At 197 pounds, Jake Woodley showed how dominant he could be by earning a major decision 12-0 over Yonger Bastida and an impressive 4-0 win over Tyrell Gordon. The Pittsburgh native owns a pair of major decisions this season and has outscored opponents 37-10, with his only losses coming to No. 1 Noah Adams and No. 8 Kordell Norfleet.

"This was the best I've seen Jake wrestle this year," Rosselli said. "He has really put in the work on top, and it's paying off for him. He's right where he needs to be, and it's our job to help him get to that next level."

Josh Heindselman faced two tough tasks at heavyweight, matching up with No. 6 Gannon Gremmel and No. 7 Carter Isley. The redshirt freshman took Gremmel to overtime but fell 5-4 and then fell 3-2 to Isley.

The Sooners now turn their focus to Oklahoma State for a Bedlam showdown in Lloyd Noble Center on Feb. 7. Fans can purchase tickets to the dual by visiting SoonerSports.com or calling the OU ticket office at 405-325-2424.
