After a legendary, 159-0, collegiate career at Iowa State, Cael Sanderson would win Olympic gold at the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece. However, making the team was no easy feat. In the finals, Sanderson, the 2003 World silver medalist, was faced with a worthy advisory, Lee Fullhart.
Prior to the third match in the Olympic Team Trials, the pair had wrestled 11 times, with Sanderson holding a 7-4 series lead. In the finals, Sanderson took match one, 3-1 and Fullhart, a four-time All-American and NCAA champion at Iowa, took match two, 2-2.
