Aleksandr Karelin hadn't lost a match in 13 years. He hadn't allowed a point scored in six years. He had nine World gold medals, and was looking to capture his fourth Olympic Gold. However, Rulon Gardner achieved the impossible and defeated the "Russian Experiment".
