Virginia Duals National College semifinals set: Arizona State v. Virginia plus Virginia Tech v. Old Dominion

HAMPTON, Va. – The semifinals of the National College division of the 39th annual Virginia Duals has been set at the conclusion of the quarterfinals round.

The semifinals will feature No. 16 Arizona State against Virginia, and No. 13 Virginia Tech vs. Old Dominion. (rankings based upon current NWCA Coaches Poll). The National College semifinals are set for 2:00 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday.

Arizona State won six matches, including three by bonus points, to defeat Oklahoma 25-12 in their quarterfinal.

Virginia earned the right to face Arizona State in the semifinals after a strong 32-12 win over Lock Haven in their quarterfinal. Virginia secured wins in seven of the 10 weights, including five bonus point wins and one forfeit.

Virginia Tech advanced with a dominant 35-4 victory over Chattanooga, winning nine of the 10 bouts, including three bonus point wins.

Old Dominion advanced with a 30-10 win over Kent State, sweeping the first five lightweight matches and claiming eight victories. Three of ODU’s wins earned bonus points.

Three of the four National College division semifinalists hail from the host state of Virginia.

A pair of consolation bouts will be held in this division this afternoon. This story will be updated with those results.

The Virginia Duals also features an American College division, plus three high school divisions (National, American, Black & Blue). Updates on these divisions will be posted separately.
