Ragusin, Nutter, Ervien, Caffey, Schultz receive draws for day one of Greco-Roman at Junior Worlds

TALLINN, Estonia – The first five U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers have received their draws for the UWW Junior World Wrestling Championships, and will begin competition on Friday.

2017 Cadet World champion and 2018 Junior World bronze medalist Cohlton Schultz (Parker, Colo./Sunkist Kids/EAP) will open against Dariusz Vitek of Hungary, a bronze medalist at the 2019 European Junior Championships.

Schultz will be competing in his sixth age-group World Championships for Team USA. This will be Schultz’ third Junior World Team, also competing in 2017 and 2018. He competed on two Cadet World Teams (2016 and 2017) and the 2018 U23 World Team. Schultz wrestled Greco-Roman in all six of these competitions.

He made his mark on the Senior level this year, placing second in Final X and winning the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. Schultz is going into his freshman year at Arizona State.

2018 U.S. Junior World Team member Alston Nutter (Fennimore, Wis./Sunkist Kids/NMU-OTS) will face Zaur Nuriyev (Azerbaijan) in his first bout at 63 kg/139 lbs. Nuriyev was 10th in 2019 European Junior Championships.

Nutter competes for the Northern Michigan University – Olympic Training Site (NMU-OTS) program at Northern Michigan.

Dylan Ragusin (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Izzy Style), a 2017 U.S. Cadet World Team member, will compete at 55 kg/121 lbs. His first-round opponent is Mukremin Aktas of Turkey, who was fifth in the 2017 Cadet World Championships.

Ragusin won three Cadet National titles in his career, two in Greco-Roman and one in freestyle. Ragusin is a rising freshman at Stanford.

At 87 kg/191.5 lbs., Michigan State wrestler Cameron Caffey (Carbondale, Ill./Michigan State) will open up against 2018 Junior World bronze medalist Ilia Ermolenko of Russia, who was also a 2019 European Junior champion.

Caffey was a 2018 Pan American Junior champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman.

An incoming freshman for Div. I Campbell University, Jack Ervien (Bonny Lake, Wash./Takedown Express WC), holds down the USA spot at 77 kg/169.5 lbs. Ervien will come out against two-time Junior World medalist Sajan Sajan of India. Sajan was second in the 2018 Junior Worlds and third in the 2017 Junior Worlds.

The first session for Greco-Roman at the Junior World Championships begins at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Tallinn is seven hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern time zone. All of the action is live on Trackwrestling.
