Top U.S. Greco-Roman team set to dual Serbian National Team in Boise, Idaho, Feb. 11

The U.S. Greco-Roman National team is set to battle against the Serbian National team in Boise, Idaho on Sunday, February 11, in the Bishop Kelly High School gymnasium, starting at 3:00 p.m.

The U.S. team will feature many of the top wrestlers in the nation, including past Olympic and World Team members. Serbia has a strong national Greco-Roman program, and will also bring many talented and experienced athletes to the dual meet.

Expected to compete for Team USA is two-time Olympian Ben Provisor (State College, Pa. /New York AC), 2012 Olympian and two-time Senior World Team member Ellis Coleman (Colorado Springs, Colo. /U.S Army WCAP). Both Coleman and Provisor were members of the 2017 U.S. World Team. Coleman was a two-time Junior World bronze medalist.

Other members of the 2017 U.S. World Team on the U.S. roster include Ildar Hafizov (Colorado Springs, Colo. /U.S. Army WCAP) and Pat Smith (Minneapolis, Minn. /Minnesota Storm).

Among the other U.S. athletes expected in the dual meet are 2016 Olympic Team Trials champion Ravaughn Perkins (Colorado Springs, Colo. /New York AC) or 2017 Junior World champion Kamal Bey (Colorado Springs, Colo. /Sunkist Kids).

2017 U23 World Team members Alejandro Sancho (Miami, Fla. /New York AC) and Barrett Stanghill (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) will compete, plus 2012 University World champion Max Nowry (Colorado Springs, Colo. /New York AC) and 2017 World Team Trials runner-up Hayden Zillmer (Minneapolis, Minn. /Minnesota Storm)

Serbia’s lineup includes 2017 Senior World champion Victor Nemes, two time Olympian Kristian Fris, and veteran Aleksandr Maksimovic, who has placed as high as fifth in the World Championships. Also on the roster are 2017 U23 World Team member Vladimir Stankic.

The final matchups for the dual meet will be announced prior to the bout.

The event is being hosted and sponsored by Suples Training Systems, a USA Wrestling sponsor, and in cooperation with USA Wrestling and the Wrestling Federation of Serbia.
